His Mag Sepharose™ Ni

His Mag Sepharose Ni products are magnetic beads designed for efficient, small-scale purification/screening of histidine-tagged proteins from different sources. Histidine-tagged proteins are captured using immobilized nickel ions followed by collection of the beads using a magnetic device. You can use magnetic beads to simplify sample handling during small-scale purification.

His Mag Sepharose Ni delivers:

  • High-capacity small-scale purification of histidine-tagged proteins from different sources
  • High purity and yield
  • Easy parallel screening of histidine-tagged proteins with high repeatability
  • Scalability—Simple capture of histidine-tagged proteins from small or large sample volumes (low microliter to milliliter scale)

The beads are available in three pack sizes: 2 × 1 ml 5% medium slurry, 5 × 1 ml 5% medium slurry, and 10 × 1 ml 5% medium slurry—a 1 ml 5% medium slurry is the same as 50 μl sedimented medium. A 1 ml medium slurry is sufficient for 5 purification runs according to the recommended protocol.

Together with MagRack 6, a separation tool for handling the beads in microcentrifuge tubes, up to six samples can be processed in parallel. You can easily screen a larger number of samples in parallel with high throughput on a robotic device.

Simplified handling:

The magnetic bead format has excellent properties for small-scale experiments. The high density of the beads allows rapid capture by magnetic devices while the visibility of the beads ensures reliable collection of the bound histidine-tagged proteins in the purification procedure. The characteristics of the media are summarized in Table 1. All the products are provided with protocols optimized for purification of histidine-tagged proteins.

AMSBIO

AMSBIO announces the introduction of CloneCatcher™ Gold DH5G Electrocompent E. coli cells - a new product that exhibits extremely high electroporation efficiencies.

AMSBIO

The new product exhibits extremely high electroporation efficiencies that approach the theoretical maximum of 3.4 x 1011 cfu/µg pUC19 DNA. Transferring exogenous DNA into E. coli is a standard laboratory method for cloning genes and constructing cDNA, genomic and epitope libraries. The limiting factor in many library-screening efforts or multiple fragment ligations is the efficiency by which DNA can be introduced into E. coli. Electroporation is one method to efficiently introduce DNA into E. coli.

CloneCatcher™ Gold cells meet the needs of scientists that are seeking to find rare clones or are building complex or metagenomic libraries. CloneCatcher™ Gold significantly outperforms all other commercially available Electrocompetent Cells when introducing ligated DNA. When the amount of input DNA is limited, CloneCatcher Gold enhances your likelihood of success.

CloneCatcher™ Gold requires less topoisomerase-loaded vector and therefore can reduce your overall operating costs. Supplied in convenient single-use tubes - CloneCatcher™ Gold can also enhance your productivity as the whole protocol for use takes only 10 minutes.

Eppendorf/DASGIP

At this year’s Achema, Eppendorf and the DASGIP Information and Process Technology GmbH presented for the first time the new DASbox single-use vessel for parallel bioprocessing.

Eppendorf/DASGIP

The development of the DASbox single-use vessel reinforces the strong synergy that benefits both DASGIP and the Eppendorf AG, which acquired the bioprocessing specialist this past January. “Within a very short time we were able to combine the long-standing competency of the Eppendorf AG in the field of plastics technology with our bioreactor expertise, which led to a new product”, explains Dr. Matthias Arnold, member of DASGIP management and head of the development department.

The DASbox single-use vessel is the first single-use bioreactor which was developed for the DASGIP Parallel Bioreactor Systems. As a fully instrumented mini bioreactor with a working volume of 60-250 ml, it was constructed specifically for use in combination with the DASGIP DASbox mini bioreactor system. Especially with cell culture users in mind, the advantages of single-use technology are combined with the benefits of parallel cultivation and the full functionality of industrial bioreactors. All critical process parameters such as pH, soluble oxygen and optical density can be monitored and controlled using industry standard probes.

Integrated dip tubes allow for controlled addition of liquids, sampling, as well as fully massflow controlled gas supply. The magnet coupled stirrer is only one of the examples for the uncompromising sterile technology of this single-use bioreactor.  A special feature of the DASbox single-use vessel is the novel, liquid-free Peltier element temperature control and condensation. This innovation, which enables, amongst others, efficient liquid condensation from the exhaust air, represents a further milestone in the transfer of the requirements of classic bioreactor technology to single-use technology.

The DASbox single-use vessel accelerates bioprocess development. The small working volumes save precious cell material and media, and extensive cleaning and sterilization procedures are superfluous. Less time is required for installation of the bioreactor, and cross contaminations are virtually excluded. Parallel cultivation under precisely controlled conditions delivers reliable results, fast. Further, the comprehensive software functions of DASGIP DASware allow user friendly and detailed capture, saving, analysis and management of resulting data.

PromoCell

PromoKine’s plant-derived cytokines and growth factors are free of animal components, serum traces, and antibiotics.

PromoCell

Growing importance of fields like stem cell research require cytokines and growth factors produced in a safe host organism that prevent the occurrence of unwanted cellular responses caused by high endotoxin levels and other bacterial or mammalian impurities. Many commercially available cytokines and growth factors have endotoxin levels and other impurities high enough to seriously affect cellular processes like proliferation or differentiation.

PromoKine’s plant-derived cytokines and growth factors are free of animal components, serum traces, and antibiotics. They are also free of human, animal or bacterial infectious agents and have an endotoxin content typically 20-times lower than proteins produced in E. coli. Thus, they avoid problems caused by too high endotoxin levels and improve critical applications, e.g. in stem cell research.

ForteBio - a division of Pall Life Sciences

ForteBio announced the launch of the Octet® HTX system, the new flagship member of the Octet line of label-free interaction analysis systems.

ForteBio - a division of Pall Life Sciences

ForteBio, a division of Pall Life Sciences and a leading supplier of instrumentation for accelerated drug discovery and development, today announced the launch of the Octet® HTX system, the new flagship member of the Octet line of label-free interaction analysis systems. The Octet HTX system addresses the acute industry need for increased analysis speed and sample throughput when characterizing large numbers of therapeutic candidates.

Octet systems provide unique insights into drug-target binding interactions, insights that are used to fine-tune the affinity and specificity of drug molecules. The Octet HTX instrument performs kinetic analysis of up to 96 binding interactions simultaneously, a capability offered by no other stand-alone label-free platform. The system offers dramatic time savings for researchers studying large panels of drug candidates, and provides innovative data analysis tools for developers of monoclonal antibodies and other biotherapeutic entities. In addition, the Octet HTX performs full 96-well plate determinations of protein concentrations in as little as 2 minutes.

“The need for higher analytical throughput is a central theme with our pharmaceutical and biopharm customers,” noted Robert Wicke, General Manager at Pall’s ForteBio Division. “We believe researchers will be delighted by the Octet HTX system. The HTX system was engineered for speed while maintaining peak performance, and will directly address critical bottlenecks in the drug development process.”

The Octet HTX system was unveiled today at the BioProcess International 2013 conference in Boston, Mass.
