6th Zing Bionanomaterials Conference

Zlatni Pjasazi (BG)

This 6th conference will consider advances in nanobiomaterials with a special emphasis on synthesis, chacterization including synchrotron and neutron techniques, toxicity and therapeutics. The interaction of nanomaterials with biomolecules, biological interfaces and biofluids will receive special consideration. Numerical approaches providing special insight into nanoparticle interactions will also be covered. A key topic will be the transport of nanoparticles across barriers such as cell membranes and the blood-brain barrier, as well as transport in and between cells, such as neurons. Such processes give rise to the possibility of using nanoparticles as vectors to deliver therapeutic materials. The goal of this ZING conference is to bring together experts in relevant fields and to animate discussion on the relevance of in silico, in vitro and in vivo tools, and models for the assessment of drug delivery by oral and parenteral routes.

Fit for Health 2.0: Internationales Training „Exploitation of EU Project Results”

Dublin (IRL)

The strategic use and management of Intellectual Property (IP) – in business as well as in international research initiatives – is essential for strengthening the European scientific and technological base, boosting innovation and ensuring growth in the EU. In this context the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020, places even more emphasis on systematic IP exploitation strategies as a means to better protect innovation initiatives and to reap commercial and economic benefits from EU-funded research.
Therefore this IP training event will address the overall topic of how to create value through professional management and exploitation of IP – with a special focus on IP in the field of healthcare. Following a very practical and comprehensive training approach, participants will be made familiar with central concepts and strategies on how to turn intellectual assets into value-creating innovations and increase impact with concrete examples in using IP as a strategic tool and how to transfer innovative ideas into valuable assets. By this, this training event addresses particularly SMEs and researchers interested in using Horizon 2020 more strategically for strengthening their innovation capacities.

EU Ecolabel for bio-based products

Brussels (B)

Open-Bio investigates how markets can be opened for bio-based products through standardization, labelling and procurement. Part of the Open-Bio project deals with the question of whether the EU Ecolabel can be extended to explicitly cover bio-based products, and if yes, how. The objective was to assess the suitability of ecolabel criteria for bio-based products or, in other words, to find out whether the existing criteria of ecolabels can be applied to bio-based products, whether there are conflicts of harmonization and whether additional criteria can or should to be added in order to adequately label bio-based products. This workshop is part of the Open-Bio project, funded by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. Participation is free of charge and limited to 40 participants.
