Study: All biotech at one glance
Budapest – The corporate finance advisory firm PCA in collaboration with the Hungarian Biotechnology Association (HBA) have published a comprehensive industry report entitled ‘Biotechnology in Hungary 2006 – Unfolding Potentials’. The extensive 100-pages report covers the structure, the latest trends and achievements of the Hungarian biotechnology industry. Completed with Hungarian and international comparative studies, statistical analyses, questionnaires and interviews with TTO heads, researchers and CEOs, the report gives a thorough analysis of the biotech sector in Hungary, the changes in the entrepreneurial environment, and company success stories in the field of life sciences. The majority of them are members of the HBA.
The main fields of activity of global companies in Hungary are pharmaceuticals, bio-fuels and companies with diverse activities, like marketing and clinical trials. Despite growing investments, the report shows that the biotech-pharma link in Hungary is still weak, partly due to a domestic focus of on generics.
Twenty-eight later-stage and 12 early-stage companies are presented in thorough detail, presenting company histories, cooperation partners and product pipelines, or short profiles. The report also takes “non-core“ biotechnological companies such as manufacturers of generics and pharmaceutical ingredients into consideration.
