Prize in London
Oeiras - Bioalvo, a start-up company aiming at molecular target identification for drug development for both the central nervous system (CNS) and sensory organs disorders (deafness and blindness), was awarded a £1,000 prize in the contest New Business Challenge 2003 organised by Business School of Imperial College of London. This competition, which had 58 entries, aims at promoting the development of new ideas and business.
Bioalvo has already won last December the competition Iberian Bio-entrepreneur 2002 organised by ICEP and the Portuguese Association of Bioindustries (APBio).
In London and after the appraisal of the business plan and a short presentation, Bioalvo project was selected to be one of the finalists. In this final, each of the teams presented their project in detail in front of a judge panel mostly composed of venture capitalists. At a ceremony that took place on the 19th of March, Bioalvo was then awarded a prize in the value of 1,000 pounds.
