Guided Tissue Regeneration
Tampere - US patients with periodontal disease tissue and bone tissue loss following surgical procedures such as dental implants and extractions have gained access to Finish Inion's GTR (Guided Tissue Regeneration) Biodegradable Membrane System at the beginning of April 2004 when the product was made available for sales in the USA.
It is the first GTR-membrane - consisting of synthetic substances or polymers composed of L-lactide, D,L-lactide, polyglycolide and trimethylene carbonate - that is soft when applied, but becomes rigid in the original position, thus improving the space maintenance characteristics of the product. ”The aim of modern treatment for periodontal disease is to effectively regenerate lost periodontal tissue and supporting bone”, says Inion's CEO Dr. Auvo Kaikkonen. The membrane prevents the down-growth of soft-tissue and enhances the natural healing process. No removal surgery is required.
Inion Ltd. closed its latest private placement financial round of Euro10 million in late January, which ”will give Inion peace at work for the next year. During this time the net cash flow is likely to develop to a positive direction, and we believe that we will achieve profitability during 2005”, says Kaikkonen.
