HPV vaccination recommended
Amsterdam – The Netherlands will become the seventeenth country in Western Europe to recommend HPV vaccination for adolescent girls. The Dutch Health Council has recommended to the ministry that the vaccine be given to to 12-year-old girls, with a catch-up programme for girls aged 13 to 16. In its recommendation to the Minister of Health, the council also recommended that the possibility of funding HPV vaccination for young women aged 17 or older through the national health care reimbursement system should also be taken into consideration, and insisted on the need for continued screening. During a press conference, the Dutch Minister of Health said that he will make a rapid decision on the recommendation.
