The European Medicines Agency’s new Executive Director officially took the reins in mid-November. Guido Rasi, who has been Secretary General of the Italian Medicines Agency since 2008, was nominated for the five-year-term in mid-June. Rasi holds a degree in medicine and surgery, with a specialisation in internal medicine, allergology and clinical immunology from the University of Rome. There he has also held a full professorship for microbiology since 2008. In addition to many years of experience practising in hospitals and in private practice, Rasi has worked in experimental research for more than one and a half decades.
