Biotechnology Agency is Born
Lódz - The Polish Federation of Biotechnology (PFB) has been established and officially presented during the 2nd National congress of Biotechnology in Lodz at the end of June. As a temporary president Prof. Tomasz Twardowski from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and member of the Polish Academy of Science (PAN) will lead the organisation (see also page 32). The Federation will operate as a national counterpart of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB). As the most important tasks the new organisation plans to establish a network with other national organisations, create a platform for biotechnology in Poland and foster collaborations between academic institutions and industry.
500 visitors at the 2nd
National Biotech Congress
The Second National Congress on Biotechnology drew approximately 500 participants to the University of Lódz. The congress indicated the fields of biotechnology where Polish scientists are active, as well as the areas which have not been sufficiently investigated yet.
