Personal AML

12.06.2011

Oslo – Norwegian cancer drug development company Clavis Pharma ASA will receive a grant from the Norwegian government for the development of a companion diagnostic in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The Research Council of Norway awarded up to a1.8m (NOK14m) for the development of a flow cytometry method for the detection and quantification of human Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter (hENT1) in patients suffering from AML. Clavis will now develop an analytical method that will enable the selection of a sub-population of AML patients who are likely to benefit most from treatment with the company’s novel anti-cancer drug elacytarabine. The lipid-conjugated derivative of cytarabine, the current standard treatment, is in clinical Phase III development for AML.
