Base shift

01.10.2011

Athlone – Biopharma group Alkermes has established its new Irish corporate base following its merger with Elan Drug Technologies. The a712m (US$960m) deal agreed back in May – which saw Alkermes acquire Elan’s Athlone-based drug technology business – was confirmed in September by Alkermes shareholders. As part of the transaction, the US-based firm has now moved its corporate headquarters from Waltham, Massachusetts to Dublin. On September 19th, Alkermes announced it will begin manufacturing drugs for “one of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies” in a deal that will generate up to €14.8m ($20m) in annual revenue by 2016.
