EIT in Budapest
Budapest/Brussels – The European research ministers decided in mid-June that the Hungarian capital Budapest will house the headquarters of the prestigious European Institute of Technology (EIT). With a budget of EUR308m until 2013, EUR15m of which is earmarked for a staff of 60, the EIT will coordinate the creation of research networks of universities, private institutes and companies. First calls for funding are expected to be published next year, with projects starting in 2010. In addition to Hungary, Austria and Slovakia had entered bids for the EIT headquarters with the joint candidature of Vienna and Bratislava, along with the Polish city of Wroclaw, the German city of Jena and the Spanish Sant Cugat des Vallés.
