Integrated biolab opened
Brno - The Masaryk University (MU) in early-October inaugurated its new Integrated Laboratories of Biomedical Technologies (ILBIT).
The European Investment Bank (EIB) - the European Union's project financing bank - had granted a 95-million-euro loan to the Czech Republic for the expansion and modernization of Masaryk University in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic and also the second largest centre of education in the country.
The EIB loan helped financing the development of a new university campus on a site near an existing teaching hospital at the outskirts of Brno, where the university's Faculty of Medicine and the Chemistry and Biology Departments of the Faculty of Science will relocate.
Another major part of the investment loan will also be used to upgrade existing university buildings and finance the acquisition of state-of-the-art teaching and research equipment.
