Alapis purchase

Athens – Greek conglomerate Alapis is further expanding its healthcare arm (production of veterinary pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and nutritional supplements), an area that made up 75% of its total EBITDA of €117.3m in 2007. In February, the Athens-based company paid €2m for 100% of Labomed, a supplier of laboratory and diagnostic equipment. Alapis had already purchased Lavrio-based Lamda Applied Pharmaceuticals Laboratory for Applied Research, for €475,000 in January. Lamda offers services in research and development, patent information, and quality control for generic pharmaceuticals.
